Remember the loft bed? Of course you do! That was a lot of work to make. At first I looked at it as bonus aerobics, which it was. Then I realized that in no time at all, it wouldn't be a project every morning because you'd be grown up and living somewhere else. I was so thankful to be making it after that!
Thanks for beautifully articulating why people say they do their best thinking in the shower; it's the same idea, and one I, too, use to get through the everyday grind. Now, if I could just figure out a way to think/meditate while trying to process a new recipe so I don't forget a key ingredient (yup, that's happened more than once), I'd have this mastered!
Why do I not sing in the shower when finally getting to take one is such a treat? :) And to your other point, if I was one to (1) cook, or (2) follow a recipe (which I am not), I'm sure the same thing would happen!
This happens to me doing the dishes at night--and then I get annoyed because I've got all these ideas racketing around in my head and I'm 'wasting' my time on chores. Thanks, Maureen, for sharing a great way to reframe the everyday grind into a meditation.
I almost never get my best ideas in front of a screen. It's always when I'm doing something like the dishes! Just this morning, working out with weights, I thought of how much fun it is to be in this tiny RV but back in the bedroom by myself. I had nothing to do but my reps, and loved the time to stare out the windows (on three sides!) and feast on the beauty of all those trees weighed down with snow.
Great views definitely help. I love doing yardwork, being outside with the birds, the wind, the sun. I usually do too much because it's so nice out there.
This makes me look forward to making my bed in the morning--something I never thought I'd say! Thanks for that :)

I do!! Oh man, I didn't even think about what a wild experience that must have been. I loved that bed so much. I'm happy it was worth it for you! <3
